Nursing Care...

At Birtley House, we have blended traditional values of courtesy and care with modern, professional nursing care methods to offer our residents a lifestyle which ensures that their personal preferences, independence, privacy and dignity are respected at all times.

Our Holistic home from home approach

Care and support is so very important when considering a move into your new home and here at Birtley Nursing Home, we do our best to make that move as stress-free as possible.

We do our best to help everyone who lives here feel that they have simply moved home, rather than left home and people often comment that the warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at Birtley House is very different from other homes they have visited. A number of our residents’ relatives have mentioned that the ‘home from home’ feeling is one of the most important aspects of the Birtley House ethos, and that it feels like a ‘home with nursing’, rather than a ‘nursing home’. Both our residents and their relatives enjoy the feeling of being part of a big family.

Your Birtley Nursing Team Looking After You

Our outstanding 24-hour care goes hand in hand with compassion and understanding here at Birtley. Each one of our nurses and care assistants reassures, supports and provides safety for each of our residents with the reassurance and kindness you would expect from your own family. Our dedicated team of carers not only understand every residents’ need, but they also develop a deeper understanding of their lifestyle, building a greater bond with our residents and providing personalised care like no other.

Types of Care

Our fully qualified nursing care team have a strong background and understanding in various practices in all types of care ranging from personalised long-term care to short-stay and respite care. Our nursing approach is aimed at supporting a variety of specialist needs that originate from chronic and ongoing medical conditions such as Parkinson’s and Motor Neurone Disease to progressive conditions such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Whilst we often don’t take people into our home if they have an existing diagnosis of Dementia for various reasons, some of our existing Residents will develop it over time and we are more often than not able to manage it, meaning Residents can stay with us long-term.

Our tailored nursing care supports individuals with varying conditions paired with our compassionate end-of-life palliative care, managing an individual’s pain and providing support throughout a very personalised care programme in their final days or weeks. All of which are incredibly personable and are bespoke to each individual.

Collectively, our team work together to provide the ultimate care and support to our residents. Depending on our resident’s personalised needs, our continuity of care remains the same, of the highest quality.

Cost of Care

The price for all care is determined by the individuals care dependency level and the chosen accommodation. The dependency tool we use highlights five stages of dependency which determine someone as having low to high care needs, this is confirmed by an assessment from either our Registered Manager, or a qualified member of the nursing team. As a prospective resident, you would then choose your preferred room (pending availability) and we would be able to confirm the price for you. Admission to the nursing home would take place on a Monday to Friday during working hours.
