The Team

Our Registered Manager Sylwia Indycka, leads a dedicated team of experienced and highly qualified nurses and care staff. They each work together supporting each other, in order to best support our residents and their families, whilst delivering high quality care.

Highest Standards of Care

We pride ourselves in providing the highest standards in care which spans across the whole team from managers to companions and the support services team. This level of care is demonstrated through our dedication and compassion for each and every resident here at Birtley House.

We also embrace our relationships with varying governing bodies including the Care Quality Commision (CQC) who we have always referred to for guidance in times of change.

Considerable Experience

The staff have considerable experience in working with residents who have varying needs ranging from very low and independent, to very high dependency. Wherever possible we will guide you to make your own choices and manage your own care.

We are experienced in caring for those who have specialist needs including conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Strokes, and even Motor-neurone disease. Together, our multi-disciplinary team bring the skills and experience needed to deliver fully personalised care to each person. Using a holistic approach to nursing care, we also specialise in end-of-life palliative care services which can usually only be provided in a hospice.

Continuity of Care

Aside from almost 90 years as a registered care service provider, and surviving various economic depressions, World Wars and other uncertainties, we know many things about the business of care, and one key factor being that it is the little things that make the difference to our staff, and our residents.

Our introduction of ‘Keyworkers’ for example, was once a small innovation in our practices which we have maintained because it makes the biggest difference to a person’s experience of care. A keyworker is one named member of the team allocated to each resident. This truly enhances the continuity in our delivery of specialist nursing care and helps to build trusting relationships for Residents whilst creating further job satisfaction for staff.

We also know it is important to remain actively involved in the changes within the care industry ensuring awareness of changes to legislation and care practices. We encourage our team to continually update their knowledge through the mandatory annual training that we provide, and also in specialist training in areas of care that affect the elderly.
