Birtley House Nursing Home can accommodate and provide full 24-hour nursing care for up to 47 people. With a variation of Nursing Home rooms, and a series of fourteen unique apartments, each offer a truly wonderful living option for those who know they require long term care.

At Birtley House, we pride ourselves on supporting and guiding our residents and that starts from their first day with us. Whether you are looking for long term care needs or simply a respite stay recovering from a post-operative care, our nursing home rooms have all the amenities and most importantly accessibility needed at all times.
Welcoming Nursing Home Rooms
Traditional Nursing Home rooms are available on a rental basis for stays from as little as one week. Our rooms are categorised into ratings of Standard, Premium and Deluxe. These ratings are determined by the size of the room and the views that look out over our stunning 48-acre estate. Nearly all of our rooms have an ensuite W.C. and basin, and a handful have an ensuite wet-room.

The West Wing Concept Explained...
For those that choose to move in with long-term care in mind, the option to purchase an apartment becomes available. A new home to call your own, where you can receive full nursing care 24-hours a day.
Each apartment is unique in its footprint, and in the design phase we worked to embrace as many original house features as possible including Victorian fireplaces, beautiful coving, large bay windows and tall ceilings. The views are exceptional with maximised window space to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
The apartments are sold on a ‘debenture’ basis and these range from circa £275,000 to just over £500,000. At the end of the notice period and providing it has re-sold onto the next occupant, the amount is then refunded back to the debenture holder’s estate.
Monthly care fees are required throughout the occupancy but they come with the advantage of considerable reductions for apartment occupants. The fees are substantially less than the cost of a Nursing Home room, and as an example compared to someone staying in a Deluxe-grade nursing home room with a medium dependency care level, you would SAVE an average of £3.900 per month, or circa £47,000 per year. Our staff provide the same level of nursing care for residents in these apartments as they do for those in our nursing home rooms.
