It was a fun filled bonfire night this year in the Nursing Home, when Residents gathered for their afternoon activity on the 5th. They were enthralled with the task of building a new friend to join their group, Mr Guy Fawkes. Through a little paper mache and newspaper stuffing and the donation of one of the Residents suits, the task literally ‘lit up’ a caution to the wind attitude, with a newspaper fight breaking out, accompanied by excitement, giggles and laughter. For the Residents it was like a fun Friday afternoon back in the school classroom with friends. The commotion remained as they waited for the themed dinner which came that evening, each person eagerly looking forward to the sparklers which would follow.
With Halloween celebrations growing each year in the UK, our Birtley House activities team decided to really embrace it this year and make the most of our own home grown pumpkins.
Having made the decision that additional care is required and that a nursing home is the right solution, finding the right one can be a daunting process. To help ease this, Birtley House nursing home guildford have devised a check list of the initial, most important considerations for any individual or family.
