On Friday 7th October, Birtley Resident, Dr. Bobby Reynolds set sail at Papercourt Sailing Club with the Sailability Team. Bobby has been a keen sailor all his life and his family suggested that he might enjoy getting out on the water again. Birtley Matron, Karen Williams, assessed the suggestion and two carers, Rad & Dorotka Ciba offered to accompany Bobby (on their day off).
Bobby was helped into the boat with a hoist and they set sail - the grin on Bobby's face tells the whole story. The outing was a huge success and it was a fantastic achievement by all involved to fulfill the wishes of one of our Residents.
With Halloween celebrations growing each year in the UK, our Birtley House activities team decided to really embrace it this year and make the most of our own home grown pumpkins.
Having made the decision that additional care is required and that a nursing home is the right solution, finding the right one can be a daunting process. To help ease this, Birtley House nursing home guildford have devised a check list of the initial, most important considerations for any individual or family.
