Recovery from a Palliative care case

One of the reasons that we at Birtley House Nursing Home have always been recognised as high quality care givers, is because we continually assess our performance and operations in the Care Home. This reflection method helps us to highlight what worked, what was super successful and what may not have worked as well as we had hoped. The Managers responsible for different areas of our nursing home do this regularly and objectively, involving their teams and the Residents views to ensure we consider all avenues for care home development within Birtley House. As well as being constructively critical to our performance, it is also a great opportunity to sit back and reflect on our achievements, especially achievements made in the face of adversity.

Recovery from a Palliative care case

One of our favourite highlights of 2018, was being able to send this lovely lady home just in time to spend Christmas and new year with her family. Having joined us back in August for Palliative care services due to a critical condition, this seemed highly unlikely and we were so thrilled when we started to see the improvement in her health. The turnaround was a lot to do with Sally’s fighting spirit as well as the care given from our Birtley House team, but this scenario is nothing less than extraordinary. We are overjoyed to be part of her recovery journey, and incredibly proud of our whole team. With care being integral to what we do it is easy to forget the impact of our efforts, and cases like this are a true testimony to the real quality of personal nursing care given every day from our passionate and committed team.
