Born in 1911, Mrs Amey is 105 today and was delighted to receive her all-important card from The Queen.
Today she is enjoying a special lunch with her extended family but the Birtley celebration, held yesterday, was a far larger affair with over 60 residents, staff, family and many guests assembling to join in the celebration. Special guests were the Mayor of Waverley, Mike Band, and a group from the Salvation Army who played favourites of Mrs Amey. A special birthday tea, prepared by the Birtley kitchen team, complete with champagne rounded off the celebrations.
