The Guildford and Godalming GAMBIT groups of blind and partially sighed came to Birtley on a glorious sunny morning to view this year's sculpture exhibition. Birtley House supports these groups with funds raised for the Birtley House Community Fund, which is administered by the Community Foundation for Surrey.
Some 35 members, including their sighted volunteer helpers and drivers, looked around the exhibits and then enjoyed coffee and homemade shortbread and cheese scones. The cheese scones had been especially requested, as the groups had so enjoyed them here on previous visits! Over the years the groups have become firm friends and our Residents are always keen to join them for a chat. This year Mews Residents, Mrs Brooks and Mrs Powell-Jones, along with Birtley Resident Mrs Scrase joined the groups for coffee.
An afternoon spent getting to know each other
With Halloween celebrations growing each year in the UK, our Birtley House activities team decided to really embrace it this year and make the most of our own home grown pumpkins.
Having made the decision that additional care is required and that a nursing home is the right solution, finding the right one can be a daunting process. To help ease this, Birtley House nursing home guildford have devised a check list of the initial, most important considerations for any individual or family.
