On Monday 19th December, the Blackheath & Bramley Choral Society came to Birtley for the annual Carol Concert which was a lovely, family get-together.
On Monday 19th December, we are looking forward to our annual carol concert, held in the Drawing Room, with Blackheath & Bramley Choral Society. The evening commences at 6.30pm with mulled wine & mince pies, with the carols starting at 7pm. If you are able to join us, do please let us know in advance so we have an idea of numbers. We look forward to seeing you.
On Monday 5th December, we had a Christingle and Advent wreath-making session. The results were very festive and got everyone into the Christmas spirit.
The Times Magazine on 26th November 2016 had an article featuring Birtley House.
Birtley House was awarded Care Team of the Year and Simon Whalley received the Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award. The Awards were held on Friday 18th November at Epsom Downs Racecourse with over 400 care employers and staff assembled.
On Thursday 10th November, Robert Grimmond joined the afternoon Activities session with 20 unusual items for Residents to identify and decide on their use.
On Thursday 3rd November the annual Shoebox Appeal packed up a record 42 boxes with the aid of Residents and helpers. Huge thanks goes to all of those that contributed items. The generosity of Residents and their families allowed for the £3 per box that is suggested towards the transport costs for the Samaritan's Purse Charity.
The bountiful crop of apples from the Birtley orchard have all been gathered up and the next stage, apple pressing has begun. Tim Whalley and the team have been hard at work, processing all of the crates of apples through the machinery in the grounds.
On Monday 31st October 2016, David Mowat MP, the Minister for Community Health & Care, visited Birtley, along with representatives from Care England.
