The annual carol concert by the Blackheath and Bramley choral society is always eagerly awaited by our residents, their families and friends and indeed the staff. Managing to fit so many people, some in wheelchairs, into the Drawing Room and Orangery is always rather interesting but somehow everyone was in place by the 7pm start, having first enjoyed mulled Birtley cider and homemade mince pies.
The concert gave everyone a chance to sing old favourites and to listen to more unusual carols sung by the choir. Two seasonal readings and a blessing by Birtley Chaplain, Trishia Hislop, completed the magical evening.
