Birtleys Christmas Foodbank Appeal

Throughout each year at Birtley House we involve ourselves in various charitable events and occasions, working with our local community to help raise funds for those in need, and as many of you know, we also host our own in house events.

For Christmas this year we chose to bring our charity closer to home, and so we donated food & household items to our local foodbank at St Marks Community Church in Godalming yesterday. Our ‘Birtley Elves’ delivered a heavy Sleigh full of boxed goodies, where they were greatly received by the community centre as we were met with a ‘brilliant, we’ve just run out of this …and this’.

The foodbank distribute locally to those who visit them, requesting items that they would struggle to buy themselves, for many people these requests are for real basics such as washing up liquid, tea bags and pasta and other non-perishable foods that can go far in the kitchen. Christmas is the perfect time to raise awareness for such a need and encourages people to give a little extra. Our best wishes were sent with the food, as we wrapped up the boxes up and labelled them with hand-made gift tags from our Residents.

We are sure our vast collection will all be enjoyed and are thrilled to be a part of this project, a huge THANK YOU to our Residents, staff and other connections to Birtley, whom were at the heart of building such a brilliant donation!
