A Happy Halloween at Birtley House

Planted, managed and picked by our weekly visitors who are local charity for young adults with learning disabilities, Halow Project, the group volunteered to get involved with our  nursing home activity, and they joined our residents where together they used paints, leaves and glitter to decorate the pumpkins. The energy from these young adults helped create an electric atmosphere in the nursing home, with songs being sung from The Sound Of Music and The Grand Old Duke Of York and more with a ‘who could be louder’ contest between members of the halow group and the residents. There was plenty of  giggling, and strong creativity flowed in the care home activity room.

A Happy Halloween at Birtley House

The other half of the Halow team spent the afternoon in our kitchen garden with our house gardener Matt. There they carved the pumpkins into a series of different faces, some quite scary and some more friendly with a flowery festival theme for eyes. All now ready for any trick or treaters who may wish to visit Birtley House this Hallows Eve.
