Life At Birtley...

We do our best to help everyone who lives here feel that they have simply moved home, rather than left home and people often comment that the warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at Birtley House is very different from other homes they have visited.

A Nursing Home with a difference

The grounds surrounding Birtley House provide a serene setting for the Nursing Home and Mews. The eight acres of formal gardens incorporate easy-access paths to allow our less mobile residents to enjoy much of the gardens and there is an ongoing programme of installing additional pathways to facilitate further access.

Throughout the gardens there are many charming spots which provide a place to rest, spend time with family members, or to simply sit and enjoy the wildlife and flowers that continually bloom.

Call us on 01483 892 055 to discuss your needs or arrange a visit.

The ‘rooms’ within the garden include our Secret Garden, Rose Garden, an Apple Orchard and the Long Walk which every year provides the most wonderful flourish of colour in the flower beds which run parallel to it, the other side of the long walk has a peaceful pond with Koi Carp and a trickling water feature.

On the vast front lawn you will come across a near 400 year old Oak tree, and various other trees including Cherry Blossom and Wisteria before coming across the lake, with our weeping Willow tree, and clear views down to the Woodland.

Also, our award winning Kitchen Garden provides delicious home-grown produce which our Residents can enjoy throughout the year.

Back inside the house, there are many opportunities to enjoy the daily activities, events, special themed dinners, afternoon teas and various other special occasions that we hold.

…enjoying the activities and surroundings.
